Flight Training
Blue Skies offers lessons to students seeking their recreational or private pilot license. The recreational pilot certificate requires fewer training hours than the private certificate but also has more restrictions.
Cost: $75.00 per hour
Recreational License
Requirements
- Completed in as few as 30 hours
Restrictions
- Can only fly with one passenger
- Can only fly during daylight hours
- Must stay within 50 nautical miles of their home base
Private Pilot License
Requirements
- Must complete at least 40 hours of training.
- 20 hours with an instructor
- 3 hours at night
Restrictions
- Physically fit to fly
Ground School
Cost: $25.00 per hour or $350 per course
Why ground school? The same reason why you take drivers training before getting your drivers license. This is the book part of flying. You'll learn important concepts and ways to handle certain scenarios. Ground school will prepare you to take your skills to the skies and topics include:
- getting familiar with the aircraft
- rules of flying, also known as airmanship
- aeronautical meteorology or weather
- aeronautical navigation
- and aviation regulations
30 hours of Ground School is required for either pilot license.
