Blue Skies Flight Training

About Blue Skies

Blue Skies Flight Training started in 1990 and was founded by Ron Whey, Rod Durr, Allie Rhon, and Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger. Wishing to spread their joy of flying to others, the four pilots wanted to start a training program that was both affordable and fun. To supplement flying lessons, Blue Skies also offers air tours and rentals. Visit our staff page to get futher information about instructors, pilots, and grounds crew.

Our Mission

The mission of Blue Skies Flight Training is to provide students exceptional flight training while focusing on safety, quality, and customer service through the use of technically advanced aircraft.

Objectives and Goals

Blue Skies Flight Training aims, through its network of professional pilots and flight instructors, to bring the joy of flying small aircraft to those from all walks of life, not just the wealthy. Our goal is to continue to offer the caliber of programs, aircraft, facilities, and faculty that make Blue Skies Flight Training a world leader in recreational and private pilot training. Behind the program descriptions and curricula information, our faculty and staff are the individual faces that directly contribute to the caliber of our training programs. We strive to create an environment in which outstanding students and instructors from around the world are continually challenged and inspired to do their best possible work.

Additional objectives include improving the safety of flying through continuous instructor training by FAA certified flight instruction. Finally, Blue Skies aims to serve the community by sponsoring local chapters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Skies-The-Limit, a charitable outreach organization that helps differently abled youths and adults discover the joy of flight.
